5 STEPS FOR CHILLER EFFICIENCY
In every company or organization, chillers represent the capital investment, and also they are the major reason for operation costs too. In many companies, chillers are the only thing which consumes a very large amount of power produced or power supplied. Hence it is quite obvious that they need propermaintenance, cleaning to ensure that they stay efficient and give reliable operation.
5 Steps for Chiller Efficiency
We are going to list few points, which if followed, shall ensure good chiller efficiency and they can work for long:
· DAILY OPERATION RECORD AND LOG: A daily based record and thelog should be maintained to keep track of any fault occurring in thechiller. For example, if the operator gets complaints of less cooling of Air Conditioners then it might be because of any mechanical problem in thechiller. Another example can be increased condensing pressure over a month or two. In that case, a professional can be consulted as that problem can be dangerous too in the long term.
· FREQUENT CLEANING OF TUBES: Chillers work on the principle of heat transfer. Their cleaning starts evaporator and condenser tubes. After thelong operation of chillers, their tubes get filled with sludge, mud. Algae and what not. This deteriorates the efficiency. It's better that chiller condenser tube cleaning is performed on a frequent basis. It can be done by using chiller tube cleaning machine which comes under mechanical cleaning section. This chiller tube cleaning machine removes sludge, mud, algae and any other solid pollutant that stays in pipes. After this chiller condenser tube cleaning is done through achemical process which removes scales.
· NO LEAK UNIT:Manufacturers make the tubes undergo tests to ensure no leakage. But after prolonged usage, there might be a very small leakage which has to be checked and repaired to ensure better cooling.
· WATER TREATMENT: Water quality differs from place to place, and it also affects the chiller efficiency. At places closer to the sea the water is hard, the scale present in it can get stuck to the walls of the pipe and affects the cooling, and if not removed, it can damage the pipes very badly.
· OIL AND REFRIGERANT TESTING: Oil should be tested on a frequent basis to ensure proper working. The oil tasting should be done when the chiller is in operation. On the other hand, refrigerant testing is mandatory to make sure of the reliability and efficiency in the long run.
The points or steps mentioned above are to be followed mandatorily to make chiller and hence air conditioners work efficiently.
